Global warming is one of the most significant environmental issues. Regional impacts of global warming, which causes impacts on various sectors at regional to global scales, have been emerging in Saitama. Reorganizing our center in 2010, we established a new research group, “Global Warming Countermeasures Group,” which aims to investigate the current state and the impacts of global warming in Saitama prefecture and to develop mitigation and adaptation policies.
The department monitors carbon dioxide levels and reports the observational data to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
